DC initiates covered pathway construction

By Homer Viason

Diaz College started the construction of covered pathway project along Gate 2 exit on February 12, 2026, following a series of planning consultations between the administration.

Gate 2 is one of the exit points for high school students, thus making it an important location for weather‑protected infrastructure.

According to school officials, the pathway will serve as a sheltered passageway for students exiting through Gate 2 and those passing the area on their way to classrooms, particularly during hot midday hours and unexpected downpours.

Junior High School Principal Mrs. Rebecca Duran highlighted the significance of the project and also emphasized that the pathway reflects Diaz College’s

dedication in creating a learner‑friendly campus where comfort and safety are prioritized.

The construction is being carried out in phases to avoid interference with dismissal routines and campus movement. Safety barriers and temporary guides are mounted to help students navigate around the work site.

The completed structure will feature a durable roof, proper drainage, and enhanced lighting, offering all‑weather protection and improved visibility for students using the Gate 2 exit route.

School administrators expect the new pathway to enhance daily campus flow and minimize weather‑related inconveniences for both students and staff.
