FRAGMENTS OF MY SOLITUDE
Virgilio Asin̈ero Olis
Upon the shores where silence keeps,
Here I walk alone as twilight sleep,
The tide in whisper calls your name,
Yet none but echoes speak the same.
A drifting moon, pale and confine,
Hangs in the recesses of my endless mind,
It’s hollow glow on water casts,
Reflects the phantom of my past.
Each step I take dissolves in the sand,
Like time undone by fleeting hand,
The spectre wind, sighs and grieves,
Through withered boughs and fallen leaves.
Your memory is a fragile glass,
Shall time’s cold finger let thee pass?
Where shadows stay, to gather pieces of decay.
The night is long, the stars are few,
Yet sorrow sings in shades of blue,
No voice replies, no heart remains,
Just solitude in soft refrain.
