Diaz College hosts Anti-Hazing Symposium: Prioritizes Student Safety
By: Marjun Ramirez

The event was facilitated by Mr. Hubert Intan, Dr. Gilbert C. Corsame, CWTS instructors, Mrs. Jonah R. Calderon, Student Affairs and Services (SAS), and Mrs. Daisy Albina, Guidance Counselor.
The Anti-Hazing Law Symposium focused on Republic Act 11053, educating the Dcian community on the expanded definitions of hazing, which now include psychological suffering and humiliation alongside physical harm. DC Vibrant Sinulog 2026
By: Marjun Ramirez
On January 30, 2026, Tanjay City witnessed a spectacular convergence of devotion and culture as Diaz College transformed into a kaleidoscope of red, gold, and green. Under the inspiring theme “Faith in motion, joy in every step!”, the institution honored the Señor Sto. Niño, proving that spiritual growth is as essential as academic excellence. The rhythmic beating of drums filled the air while students, adorned in traditional crimson velvet and gold embroidery, performed the iconic “Sinulog” dance—a fluid, forward-and-backward motion mimicking the river currents.
This celebration was more than a mere festival; it was a profound fulfillment of the school’s mission to mold value-driven citizens. Faculty and students, known as Dcians, united in the cry of “Pit Señor!”, bridging the gap between historical heritage and modern student life. By integrating the solemnity of prayer with the energy of synchronized choreography, Diaz College continues to stand as a hub of cultural pride, ensuring that every step taken is a step toward a brighter, more faithful future.

Diaz College Marks New Era: First Pinning Ceremony
By: Marjun Ramirez
Diaz College made history on July 24, 2025 as the Education Department proudly hosted its first ever Pinning Ceremony, a significant rite for its Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) and Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) students. The event, held at the Diaz College gymnasium, was a poignant recognition of the student’s readiness to embark on their teaching internship, marking a pivotal step from academic learning to practical experience in the classroom.
The air was filled with anticipation and enthusiasm as more than 183 prospective teachers, clad in their finest academic attire, attended with their families, college faculty members, and officials. The Pinning Ceremony is an age-old tradition in most professions, signifying the cross-over from theoretical learning to practice, and its launch at Diaz College’s Education Department was greeted by resounding support and pride.
The program started with an opening prayer and the singing of national anthem, which provide a solemn tone to the proceedings. Ms. Claire Antonette Badon facilitated the proceedings graciously as lady of ceremonies.
Ms. Quency Mae Olis a BSED student, gave the welcome address, highlighting the great responsibility and great reward of the teaching profession. “Today, we honor not only our success in the classroom, but our dedication to molding the minds and futures of future generations,” she said, motivating the students with encouragement and wisdom.
A strong message of encouragement was subsequently given by Dr. Constantina Barbas, Dean of Education Department, who praised the students for having achieved this milestone moment and praised the Education Department for creating this relevant tradition. “She reaffirmed Diaz College’s strong commitment to developing competent and empathetic educators who will play an integral role in national development.”
The topping point of the ceremony was the actual pinning. One at a time, the students went up to the stage, where their respective faculty advisors or mentors pinned on a specially designed badge to their uniform. The pin, which bears the logo of Diaz College’s, represents professionalism, commitment, and ethical standards expected of all teachers. Tears overflowed in the eyes of numerous parents as they beheld their children being handed this symbol of their chosen career, an occasion that usually comes with hand clapping and cheering from the crowd.
After the ceremony, the future teachers together recited the Pledge of Commitment lead by Ms. Judilyn Vargas BSED student, a sacred vow to maintain the integrity of the teaching profession, to keep learning, and to stand by their students with honor and passion. The echoing voice of the students reading their own commitment was a strong confirmation of their choice of career.
The activity ended with a closing address from Mr. Marjun A. Ramirez BSED student, who imparted invaluable wisdom and concrete tips for the students to live by as they embark on their internship. The speaker emphasized the need for resilience, flexibility, and compassion in the ever-changing landscape of education.
The Diaz College Education Department first-ever Pinning Ceremony was not just a ceremonial activity; it was the affirmation of the students’ determination, the dedication of the faculty, and the institution’s pursuit of excellence in teacher education. As these would-be teachers enter their teaching internships, they bear not only the scholarly learning but also the pride and encouragement of the entire Diaz College community, prepared to make their contribution in the noble profession of teaching.

FRAGMENTS OF MY SOLITUDE
Virgilio Asin̈ero Olis
Upon the shores where silence keeps,
Here I walk alone as twilight sleep,
The tide in whisper calls your name,
Yet none but echoes speak the same.
A drifting moon, pale and confine,
Hangs in the recesses of my endless mind,
It’s hollow glow on water casts,
Reflects the phantom of my past.
Each step I take dissolves in the sand,
Like time undone by fleeting hand,
The spectre wind, sighs and grieves,
Through withered boughs and fallen leaves.
Your memory is a fragile glass,
Shall time’s cold finger let thee pass?
Where shadows stay, to gather pieces of decay.
The night is long, the stars are few,
Yet sorrow sings in shades of blue,
No voice replies, no heart remains,
Just solitude in soft refrain.
MEMORIES OF YESTERDAY
Virgilio Asin̈ero Olis
The wind drifts softly through the corridors of time,
carrying whispers of faces long departed,
each sigh, a name I once called home-
each silence, a place where laughter used to bloom.
I walk among echoes, not of sorrow alone,
but of tender things half- remembered- a smile, a scent a fleeting touch.
How cruelly the kind heart remains,
to cradle what has gone
and still call it beautiful.
